Metal Complexes with 8-Hydroxyquinoline: Synthesis and <i>In Vitro</i> Antimicrobial Activity

In this paper, three complexes with 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) were synthesized, their spectral analysis was performed and the antimicrobial effect examined in vitro. The stoichiometric ratio of complex determined conductometrically spectrophotometrically. FTIR UV/VIS spectroscopy used for structural characterization. Antimicrobial activity by diffusion technique on selected gram-positive gram-negative bacteria, C. albicans. Square planar octahedral geometry synthesized mixing a molar 1:2 (M:L). Based data, it is concluded that both oxygen nitrogen atoms from 8-HQ are involved formation complex. high, zones inhibition range 15 - 28 mm. shown to have significantly higher ability inhibit growth tested microorganisms.
